Kids went back to school. G got the teacher she was hoping for! S got the teachers we were hoping for! We picked 70 pounds of plums from our one tree. Everyone helps pick (that means 3 kids in the tree or on step ladders and two grown ups on big ladders) and we filled multiple 5 gallon buckets. We made something like 30 pints of jam, gave away pounds of plums, and froze bags and bags of plums. Oh, and we left some plums on the tree that were too high to pick. My New Year's resolutions include: "Use the frozen plums." I'm thinking plum cobblers? Plum sauce? Please send me some recipes.
We went to the King Tut exhibit. Among other great realizations: the Upper Nile is in the south. The lower Nile is in the north. Seems kind of opposite until you think about where the headwaters are and where the river drains. Pharaoh's headpieces indicate which kingdom they held. And, Egyptians were amazing craftspeople. King Tut was pharaoh in the 1300s BC. So these pieces are over 3000 years old. Look at what they could create then:

Plums! I do not have any fun plum recipes. However, plum sauce is usually delicious on chicken and pork and duck. (If you can get your children to eat such things). :)
