Yes, we went to Paris in April. It was a wonderful trip. We took about 900 pictures. (not kidding.) I've been working on a photo book of our trip and so I have Paris photo fatigue. But here are a few of our favorite memories from the trip.
Arc de Triomphe... S tried to scale it, until Auntie caught him 10 feet off the ground.

One of one hundred or so photos we took at the Eiffel Tower. It was rainy, a bit windy and cold. But we climbed up to the second platform anyway! Kids did great, as did Dad who carried J up 600+ steps. I just carried the stroller and snacks. We took the elevator to the top from the second level. That morning we went to Les Invalides (Military museum) and Napoleon's tomb. The museum is fantastic... S loved it even though we skipped the Napoleonic Wars section. You could spend days there.
Sacre Coeur. I thought the kids would be excited about taking the funicular up the hill to it. They were excited about climbing the steps (through the pickpockets.) We didn't bother going inside, the kids were too busy chasing pigeons and then it was lunch time. And after a false start at lunch we found a nice little bakery for sandwiches, and ate in the park while watching some very odd performance art. A man danced to new age music with a glass globe (4-5 " in diameter.) Hey whatever floats your boat, right?
That afternoon we braved the crowds at the Louvre. Yes, you really get to bypass the security line if you have a child in a stroller. And yes it is a mob scene inside. We saw the Venus de Milo, the Mona Lisa (thank you security guard for the awesome short cut!) and the coronation of Napoleon. And then we went outside to resume our pigeon chasing games.
The next day was Giverny (Monet's garden.) We had a nice train ride, and then toured the house, the formal gardens and walked around the waterlily pond. We have lots of pictures of flowers.
Friday my sister and brother-in-law came with us on a wonderful tour of Sainte Chappelle, the Conciergerie and Notre Dame. They arranged for a tour guide, who was perfect with the kids (and the adults.) A great last day. We got Berthillon ice cream that afternoon, the kids visited a few more playgrounds with Dad and Uncle M, and my sister and I walked the left bank and shopped. Thank you for hosting us SJ and M! It was memorable in all the best ways!
