Helping my parents on their quest

My parents have been visiting state capitols all over the country, as their travels take them. We had stopped by the capitol in Olympia on our way home from the beach in June, but hadn't gone inside. We thought it might be fun to go with my parents during their visit -- so they could check off another state, and we could learn a little more about state government.

We skipped most of the guided tour, and just caught up to go into the two chamber rooms, which are locked on weekends (when we were there.) This turned out to be an excellent choice, as the tour guide would have been dreadful for small children, and tedious for adults. Cool things to note - the doorknobs have the state seal on them (George's face, lucky guy,) the architecture is lovely, and kids are mostly interested in finding where their voices make the loudest echo.

The grounds are nice for picnicking, there is a fountain (fenced off so you cannot splash in it) and the brass doors have cool pictures - we should have made rubbings of them! The family picture is the only one we took there, otherwise I would not post it. I think my parents have seen about 15 capitol buildings now - Salem and Sacramento next time maybe?
