In mid October we headed out to the pumpkin patch. It was a glorious sunny fall day, and the farm was hopping. We started by visiting the kid-sized hay maze. G knew the way from her preschool visit to this farm earlier in the week, and she and S had a great time exploring all the dead ends, and finding their way in and out.
Next we headed out to the field, to pick out pumpkins. Baby J was a trooper, hanging out in the backpack, while S and G inspected the crop, looking for the perfect specimen. While J, S and G waited to pay for the pumpkins, they got to listen to live music, check out the goats and watch the farmers press cider. Baby and I went to check out the treats!
We got some of the fresh cider, and of course some donuts. The donut machine is very cool. Batter goes in, gets dropped into the oil in little donut shapes, and then cooked and flipped all by the machine. At the end, the machine flips the donuts out to drip dry. They were delicious with cinnamon sugar on top! Any outing that ends with donuts is a success for our family.
