Mid July -- Inspired by J's cousin, Jennie, we have a list of 70 fun things to do this summer. We've been trying to check one off every day. Friday we visited our local art museum to see an exhibit of African American quilts from the 1920s to 1970s. They usually have a kids play center related to the current visiting exhibit and this time it was a felt collage area. We each had a few favorites and it was a nice easy, local outing. Home in time for lunch.
S thought this one looked like a bunch of bullets.
And this looked like train tickets. The top section of white is all pieced too, not whole cloth.
An interesting crazy quilt, but in blocks. Just the pieced top.
Baby J liked this sculpture very much. The guard came to warn us that it was not attached at the top. That was the end of playing on it.
S and G liked making crazy faces with the felt pieces.
All old blue jeans. Notice the pocket shapes --- pocket pieces removed. I went back that evening for a lecture about the exhibit. It was nice to do something educational for me too!
